In 2005, a group of Caleb volunteers started a program to help the Romanians buy livestock.  Purchasing an animal not only provides food for a Romanian family, it gives goods for the them to sell at market and the animals are a renewable resource as the livestock bears young.  "Buying a piece of the Cow" has come to mean horses, pigs, goats, chickens, and yes - cows!  The Buy a Piece of the Cow Program is now part of most Caleb fundraising events.
